                                      TCL Multimedia (01070) released its first-quarter results in 2018. Its sales volume achieved the largest increase in the past five years. The Chinese market has stabilized and its overseas markets have experienced strong growth. The product structure continued to improve and the average selling price of self-owned brands continued to increase.
The gross profit margin increased steadily, the cost was kept under control, and the profitability was significantly improved. The sales volume of LCD TVs of the Group was approximately 6.37 million units, a substantial increase of 35.6% year-on-year, which was the largest increase in the past five years.
In the Chinese market, sales of LCD TVs steadily increased, up 9.6% year-on-year to approximately 2.43 million units; sales of LCD TVs in overseas markets continued to grow strongly, a substantial increase of 58.7% year-on-year to approximately 3.94 million units. The Group’s turnover was approximately HK$10.85 billion, a significant increase of 28.0% year-on-year, which was the largest increase in the past five years. Gross profit increased by 28.8% year-on-year to approximately HK$1.72 billion.
Thanks to continuous improvement of product strength and continuous improvement of product structure, the average selling price of self-owned brands of the Group continued to increase. The average selling price of self-owned brands in the Chinese market and overseas markets (excluding ODM business) increased by 9.8% and 6.5% respectively year-on-year.
The Group's gross profit margin increased steadily, by 0.1 percentage points year-on-year to 15.8%, of which the gross margin in the Chinese market and overseas markets increased by 1.6 and 0.7 percentage points year-on-year respectively. The cost is kept under control and profitability has increased significantly. The cumulative total number of users of TCL smart TV history is 25,588,100. In March 2018, the number of active users per day was 12,058,700. Internet business income has increased significantly.
According to the latest information of IHS Technology and company shipment data, the Group’s global LCD TV market share in 2017 was 10.9%, ranking third; according to China Econ's omnichannel data, China LCD TV market in the first quarter of 2018 The share continued to rise to 12.1%, ranking third. According to the China Yikang Report, the price index of LCD TV brands in the Chinese market in the first quarter of TCL2018 rose to 109 from 95 in the same period of last year, ranking first.
