During IFA18, Sharp released the second-generation 8K Aquos LCD TV AX1 series, which was first launched in Asia at the end of this year, followed by Europe.

The second-generation 8K TV (7680×4320) will be available in 60-inch, 70-inch and 80-inch sizes. The main highlights are a new screen, a new image processor, and an AI algorithm.

On the screen, the 80-inch flagship (8T-C80AX1) uses UV2A II LCD panel (IPS/IGZO), refresh rate 100/120Hz (manual setting), brightness, color gamut (12bit) and response time are improved. In contrast, the first generation 7K TV LC-70X500E, typical brightness 400 nits (peak 1000 nits), support HDR10 and HLG, gray-scale response time 8ms.

The new image processor claims twice the performance of the previous one. With the AI ​​algorithm, 2K/4K content can be processed into 8K material. Similar technology is also reflected in Samsung's new 8K QLED TV Q900, which Samsung said will bring at least 100,000 conversion algorithms after its launch.
